The last 12 months has been quite eventful for wine in India – the ban on sale and consumption of alcohol from highways across India; the Delhi Excise policy has been deferred to October meaning at least an 18 month license fee collection for the year; cartelisation of supply through one license holder in Gurgaon; and a break in publication for vino india. |
In two decades that the Indian market for wine has evolved, I have noticed that stake-holder “frustration” has been the common denominator in most wine forays. Team vino india felt the same. Introspection highlighted that not much needed to change – just that interests need to be aligned to the common goal (which luckily for us is not monetisation)! |
As you will notice, a Managing Editor is yet not appointed. But, we are honoured that writers from around the globe have committed contributions. |
Expect us to decode the market for wines in India from our experiences. And we promise you won’t be asked, "what's in it for vino india". |
Wine regards, |
